A World of Zero Car Crashes, Emissions and Congestions

Auto companies have been uniting of late and in any event, bringing on board technology companies too for the creation of electric cars. A move clearly out to spread the expense and risk of this innovative step up. GM Motors has announced its collaborating with Microsoft to hasten it’s creation of electric vehicles.

Cruise, which GM motors purchased in 2016 is a famous name in the business of developing driverless vehicles and it got a go ahead from California to test its electric vehicles in San Francisco without reinforcement drivers.

As per Cruises CEO, Dan Ammann, the mission of this coordinated effort is to bring more secure, better and more affordable transportation to everyone. He said that this effort isn’t about tech race, rather, it is about trust race. These companies are required to unite their equipment and programming excellence as well as their innovative skill in the creation and commercialisation of their self-driving vehicles. Cruise will use Azure, Microsoft’s cloud and edge computing platform to commercialise the solutions that its self-driving vehicle can offer.

Honda is also a part of this deal with GM Motors and Microsoft just as other institutional investors. This combined investment is valued over 2 billion dollars, thereby bringing the valuation of Cruise to about 30 billion Dollars

Actually, the self-driving scene is taking longer to develop than had been foreseen a couple of years back. It’s presumably going to take a while longer before we begin to see high volumes of these vehicles on the roads.

Here are the words of GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra “Microsoft is a great addition to the team as we drive toward a future world of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.” “Microsoft will help us accelerate the commercialization of Cruise’s all-electric, self-driving vehicles and help GM realize even more benefits from cloud computing as we launch 30 new electric vehicles globally by 2025 and create new businesses and services to drive growth.”

Now, imagine a world of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion, almost perfect don’t you think? But away from the grandeur of the very thought of having these cars on the roads, there is a category of persons believe this technology wouldn’t be of much good, citing such reasons as cost, safety, loss of jobs and the likes.

So, what are your thoughts? Let us know in the section.
